“Climbing Over Grit” On ITN TV

Translation:

Hello Dears, and special thanks to ITN TV. My name is Laleh Chini and I wrote “Climbing Over Grit” with my daughter Abnoos Mosleh-Shirazi in English.

I was 16 years old when I came to the US on a student visa, and got married at the age of 18. I then immigrated to Canada and am currently living in Toronto, Canada with my husband and children.

7 years ago, I suggested to my daughter Abnoos, to write a book about my mother’s life. We worked part-time on this book for 7 years and finally, in October 2018, the book was published by WisehousePublishing/L’aleph.

My mother was forced by her mother and father to marry at the age f 11, leading to a bitter destiny and hard life.

This book is a silent shout of one Iranian woman out of millions who were forced into adulthood, thus not being allowed to experience being a child or a teenager. They were abused in many ways that could have never happened if they were in their parents’ warm protection.

Abnoos and I dedicate this book to my mother Mahnaz-Najma and my sister Jaleh and all the kind and patient Iranian women who burned to ashes in silence, just to protect their honor.

Our goal of writing this book was to break this silence; To make their soundless message spread in the world.

These women were incinerated by the closest members of their families.

Reading this book is heartbreaking, but will teach a deep lesson to those who read it.

The clip is in Perian, but the book is in English, that’s recommended to the world, to all the Man’s world. there are many places in which the feminine side is under suppression. Please let’s put an end on this ❤

  8. Bringing tears when I come to know the condition of your mom.and sister. Even here in India this type of harassment occurs in most families. But for the past 1 decade I feel like things are getting better . Harassment percentage is reduced a little.
Congrats for writing the book and being telecasted on TV.
    All the best 👍💐
