“168th story”

Once upon a time,

a man was walking in a path and fell into a hole.

He shouted for help.

 A religious person was passing by and heard the man’s voice from the hole.

The religious person said: “You probably sinned, and now this happened to you as a payback. God wants you to confess your sins. I will sit here and pray for you.”

An educated person was passing by and went towards the voice. He measured the depth of the hole, checked the quality of the dirt, and started to think.

A journalist passed by and said: “So many things I have seen which were worst than your condition.”

A yoga instructor passed by and said: “This hole and the pain you are in are just in your mind, and you can clear your concentration and find peace.”

A doctor saw the crowd, went close, and after he saw the man in the hole, screaming for help, threw him two aspirins and a bottle of water.

 A nurse came along the others, sat there, and cried for the man in the hole.

A psychiatrist joined the crowd and said: “We have to dig into your past and find out what occupied your mind that made you fall into the hole.”

A positive person joined the crowd and said: “If you try hard, you can come out of the hole.”

An optimist person passed by, he stopped and said: “You should be thankful, you don’t have any broken foot.”

Then an average human passed by, saw the man in the hole. He went and grabbed a rope and pulled the man out of the dump.

*We are just making our life more complicated every day.*

    Lack of common sense is rampant today. While education and culture are so important they don’t make a difference if there’s no empathy, no love. Great story!

    I think the man who fell into the hole should’ve asked the first person to bring him the robe instead of listening to the nonsense of others who wanted to solve the problem with their profession. LOL

    Love the moral lesson, Laleh. We modern humans, with all of our advance knowledge and technology, have somehow managed to make our lives more complex and complicated than it should be. Imagine, here in the USA, the simple practice of wearing a face mask during a pandemic has become a hot button issue! What has become of our common sense?

    It was good for the man that an average human came along. Your parable reminded me of where it says in the Bible, “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?” Actions speak louder than words. I enjoyed your story very much.

    Credo che il pensare invece che l’agire sia diventata una scusa per non “affaticarsi”, non prendersi responsabiloità. Siamo diventatti freddi verso gli altri e abbiamo la pretesa di essere più sapienti di altri, dovremmo guardare senza guardare più dentro noi stessi ed essere più umili e altruisti.

    a fitting Title 🙂 your thoughts sum up the lack of humanity and common sense that surrounds the year 2020 (yes i know it goes further back, but something about this year)
    For a year that went so fast in chaos, cofusion,and craziness , the months went slow very slow, i think each month has had their own 365 days in them.

    i have never understood, how one has to analyse what they are seeing, or offer advise, rather than just helping…just help, no photo needed!
    Life in the year 2020 has been a journey i hope i don’t ever have to repeat, no need to think i would forget it, hence having to repeat it 🙂
