“79th story”
First Published: Feb.21.2019
A story by Laleh Chini:
Nancy dropped her son Jack off at preschool and saw Mary dropping off her daughter, Janet.
Mary said: “How are you, Nancy? Long-time no see. How is everyone?”
Nancy said: “You won’t believe how busy I am. Kids are driving me crazy. Jack was coming down the stairs, chasing his sister Anna this morning while holding a toy knife.
He fell down 10 stairs and landed on the rug. He had a little cut, but in total everything went well. Thank God.”
Mary replied with wonder: “Oh my God. You really are busy.”
Nancy said: “I would love to stay to chat but I have to rush to Anna.”
Mary was walking back home when she saw Susie: “Hey Susie. How are your kids? Nancy was telling me that Jack fell down the stairs with a knife in his hand. Can you believe kids these days? He fell on his sister Anna from 10 stairs. Sorry, I am in a rush to go to the hospital. I have an appointment. Bye.”
Susie went to the supermarket that day and saw Janna and said: “Did you hear the news? Jack was chasing Anna and their dog with a knife. He cut 10 spots on her. Unbelievable, Nancy’s kids play with a knife while their mother just thinks about her hair and what color nail polish she’s going to wear. The nerve of some people calling themselves mothers.”
The story circled all day and when it was time to pick the kids up from school, Nancy saw Amy, Adam’s mom.
Amy asked: “Have you heard the news?”
Nancy said; “What news?”
Amy said: “This morning some teenage boy was holding a knife while chasing a girl.
He pushed her down the stairs on a dog.
I don’t know if there was any stabbing but I heard something about 10 times and running to the hospital. People say it was all because of a careless mother who just thinks about her beauty!!!”

Great story and perfect picture choices. The dog at the end almost looks like he’s saying, “Whaaat?” 🙂

😂😂😂. There actually shouldn’t be a dog at all but the rug turned into the dog at the end.😂😂😂 Thanks ❤️

And in such a way wild rumours start than can find an innocent person convicted before there’s a charge.

So easily done and so very wrong.
My brother was in a car accident in his teens and the kids at school told me he was blind and near to die. I’d just come from home and although I knew different it marred my day with anxiety … so cruel!

I heard that story too. The teenage boy was caught and serving a life prison in jail in connection with the murder of a girl who threw his dog from the stairs while her mother was doing make up with her knife.
People these days.

A great story. That’s how a rumor is born. One person tells the other person what else they say, and another person exaggerates. Gossip can also hurt someone, so be careful.

Reminds me of a game we played as children. We would sit in a ring. One person would whisper a sentence to the next child. It would be repeated around the ring, when the last child would repeat aloud what had been said. The final version was never close to the original version.

Yep, that’s the way it happens. What’s REALLY frustrating is when news media broadcasts stories before they’ve checked them out, and even when they’re corrected, they may take several days to retract the story – or not retract it at all. ):-(
