An old man was very concerned about his wife. He realized that his wife can’t hear very well. He didn’t know how to mention it to her and make her see a doctor without sounding rude.

Her hearing was getting worse so he decided to go and tell a doctor, himself.

The doctor said: “You have to do a test for me. When you are at home, try to see in what distance she can hear you from. Then let me know how close you have to be for her to hear you.”

The old man went home. He sat in the living room and was thinking of a way to test her hearing without her knowing about her problem, as he didn’t want to break her heart.

He yelled: “What do we have for dinner?”

She didn’t reply.

He got sad and got up from his armchair, walked a little closer to the kitchen and yelled: “What do we have for dinner?”

She didn’t reply.

The old man went to the kitchen door, his wife was cooking and wasn’t able to see him. He yelled again: “What do we have for dinner?”

She didn’t hear him, he got very concerned and went beside her and said: “My dear, what do we have for dinner?”

She replied angrily: “Are you deaf. You asked four times and I said chicken.”

    Your story had me laughing. The wife can hear just fine, but for the man . . . hmm! Men have been known to be guilty of selective hearing at times.

    I have friend that is definitely going deaf, he admitted it to me. Keeps loosing his hearing aids and when he can locate them he often doesn’t use them. I understand it is a serious issue but you have to see the comical side of too, the misunderstandings, what he thinks people have said. Have a great day.
