“101st story”
First published: July.25.2019
A friend’s memory:
My husband was in a mission and had to live in the Arizona desert for a while.
I moved to Arizona with him and stayed in a little house. After a while, I realized how much I hated that place. The heat was unbearable and everything was covered in sand.
All the local people were Aboriginals and Mexicans. I had to stay alone every day at that miserable hut, called home. I couldn’t take it any longer. I wanted to leave and go back home to my family, even if it would cost me, my marriage.
I wrote a letter to my Dad, he was the smartest and I always relied on his opinion. I waited for his reply, to then decide how I will end this unfortunate life of mine.
His letter changed my life forever. The content was only two sentences. “Behind the prison bars, two prisoners were standing.
One was looking at the dirt and the other one was watching the stars.”
I was so ashamed and decided to look at the stars. I became friends with the Aboriginals and Mexicans and learned so much from them.
I was getting very good at pottery, weaving, and knitting. I learned a lot about Cactus and desert dogs.
I learned that millions of years before this desert, there was an ocean.
What had changed in my life?
The desert was the same desert. The sand, heat, and people around me were all the same as when I moved there.
But it was my attitude and observation that had been changed. Thanks to my Dad who opened my eyes. We should all guide our children to change their perspective on life.
Dear friends;
Don’t forget to read my books.<3<3<3

Indeed, everything changes once our perspective does! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this!! 😀

What a wise story. I’ve known the answer that our attitude lies within ourselves to change, but there are days I honestly have a lot of trouble doing that. Very timely posting for me personally.

A wonderful story. And even more so, its message. And it is true; if we look on the bleak side, all will be bleak. Yet there is beauty and magic to be found everywhere. If we open our eyes.

The moral of this story is true to life, and I can vouch for it. I once thought that life in my small town was like life in a penal colony until I changed my perspective. The pictures that go with your story are also beautiful.
