An older man with a world of experience complained of the hard daily duties he had. Some friends asked him: “What are your daily duties that bother you this much?”

The older man said: “I have two wild accipiter birds, I’m responsible for taming.

Two rabbits that I have to be careful not to go out of their zone. I have two eagles, which I have to guide them, a snake in a crate and a lion that always has to be in the iron cage, and I have a sick to take care of.”

The friend said: “Oh my God. Are you kidding me? How can one human be responsible for all these wild animals?”

The older man smiled and said: “It is a bitter truth everyone is dealing with daily. Those Wild accipiters are our eyes. Those rabbits are our feet, and we can’t let them go anywhere they want.

Those eagles are our hands; we should use them to work hard in the right way to help ourselves and others. The snake is our tongue, which always has to be careful it won’t sting others.

The lion is our heart, and we are still fighting it to make sure it is choosing the best decisions; and that sick to care for is our soul and body, which always need learning and taking care.  Yes, this is my daily hard work, and is taking my breath and makes me tired.”

  14. Be careful little eyes, be careful little feet, be careful little hands. The heart is on the prowl, the soul is seeking. God’s love needs to be the focus, to keep each day in the right perspective! Blessings, Lovely share!

  21. You have written a wonderful story! I have read it at a very appropriate time in my life as I am now 70 years of age! Only yesterday I wrote to a friend that no matter where on this earth that we walk, we step on the bones and dust of our ancestors, and everything we do with our hands, our feet, our tongues, our eyes, we should respect them, after all, it is our bones and dust that will soon mingle with theirs. I hope that I have understood your story correctly as it resonates with the feelings I am having about our earth, our only home.
