About
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!
I am the author of “Climbing Over Grit”, winner of Canada Book Award.
I grew up in Iran in the late 1960s until I was 16 years old which is when I moved to Virginia, USA. I got married at the age of 18 and moved to Canada. As a young girl flip-flopping between Bushehr and Shiraz, I had the chance to meet incredible Iranians with heart-wrenching stories. I am the daughter of a strong Iranian woman who was forced into an arranged marriage at the age of 11 to a 24-year-old man. I began writing about my mother’s struggles as a woman in Iran before and after the revolution as well as the struggles of more Iranians that I met throughout my life.
As a Mother of two wonderful children in their twenties, it was always my goal to make sure my children celebrate their cultural identity and educate them on their background. As it is my fascination, my blog is all about sharing stories of Iran and all around the world, Iranian history, culture, myths, and legends. I want to share with you some things that interest me about what it was like to grow up in Iran in the early 20th century, as well as what it’s like to live in Iran. I love stories with morals and will share with you what I hear.
