Be Kind Equally|به همان اندازه مهربان باشید

“160th story”

Ebrahim was a very rich kind and generous man who believed in God and was very religious. His house was on the way to a desert path. He always welcomed passengers who needed food and shelter.

Ebrahim always waited for some people to pass by and liked to invite them to his place and share his food with them.

It had been a while since he didn’t have any guests, so Ebrahim decided to walk on the road to see if he could see anyone and invite them to his house.

After a time, Ebrahim saw an older man with white hair and a beard coming closer. Ebrahim asked the older man to have lunch with him. The older man said: “Thanks for the invitation, but I have some bread with me to eat.”

Ebrahim insisted, and the older man accepted and went to Ebrahim’s house with him.

Ebrahim asked his servants to spread the lunch cloth and set the food. When the food was on the cloth, they sat around the spread.

Ebrahim said: “We should start with the name of God, to be thankful.”

Everyone at Ebrahim’s house repeated God’s name except the guest.

Ebrahim looked at his guest and said: “You are a man with years of experience. Don’t you think we should thank God for the food he provides us?”

The old man said: “I don’t believe in God.”

Ebrahim got angry and asked his servants to throw the older man out of his house.

That night in Ebrahim’s dream, God sent a message to him: “I gave health, food, family, etc., to that older man for years even though he never believed my existence, but you couldn’t feed him a lunch? If you are a kind and generous person, you should be to every human being, no matter what their religion, colour, culture, and beliefs are. What you did to that old man made me angry.

  5. Lovely, Laleh. Makes me think of Jesus’ words in Luke 6:35: “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”
