There was a very poor old man who passed life so hard. His son and daughter were sick, and poverty didn’t allow him to take them to a doctor.

He didn’t even have money for a portion of proper food for his children. They had ripped clothes and not a very warm place to sleep. He had lost his job and had to walk around the bazaar and beg for money to buy a piece of bread and take it home to feed his sick children.

Every night he came home tired with a broken heart. He was so ashamed and couldn’t face his children. One of the days, no one gave him anything. He walked from alleys to bazaars, but still no luck for a piece of bread.

He couldn’t go home empty-handed; he was tired and disgraceful. He decided to go to the miller and beg for some flour.

The miller didn’t have flour but gave the old man a few cups of wheat. The old man tightened the wheat in a cloth and hung it to his waist.

The poor man started talking to God while walking back home: “My dear God, you truly can open any knot in life. My children are sick and they need medicine and food. Please help me. I will sell this wheat buy medicine and cook soup for them.

Please open this knot in my life and help me find a job to fix this poverty.” He continued praying and begging God.

All of a sudden, he noticed that the knot of the cloth of wheat had opened and all the wheat was on the dirt. He got angry and screamed to the sky: “You are the God, the smartest of all. When I begged you to open the knot, I meant the knot of my problems, not the knot of the wheat’s sack.

Now I have nothing for my children.”

He continued blasphemy and being ungrateful to God while bending to take all the wheat off the ground. And he saw a small bag. He opened the bag and many golden coins were inside.

He felt so bad for being so judgemental and looked at the sky and said: “You are the smartest of all, you wanted my wheat to fall on the ground so I would bend and see the sack of the gold coins. You hear our prayers; you see our pains; we have no patience and are never grateful. I begged people and got a piece of bread, but I begged you and you gave me a solution.”

    I’m absolutely confident that what ever we wish to have, we have to demand it from God and if it’s suitable for us ,he would give it to us. You stories are beyond.

    Beautiful story, Laleh. Sometimes God doesn’t answer our prayers the way we expect Him to. There are times when we get impatient because He isn’t answering our prayers when we expect Him to. This story is a wonderful reminder that God does things His way and in His time and both are always perfect.
