Charles worked for a very famous clothing brand. A brand that not many people could afford to wear.

After a while, Charles noticed that if some of the items of clothing weren’t sold the company destroyed them.

Charles immediately went to the supervisor and asked: “I can’t ignore that the company destroys the unsold articles of clothing. Why not donate it to people in need? I’m sure the company paid a lot to make them, why put them in the garbage?!”

The supervisor replied calmly: “Our brand is only affordable for rich people.

If wealthy people see the brand on the poor, they will be mad and will stop buying our brand. Therefore we will lose our customers and the company’s reputation will become super low, and we even may bankrupt.”

Charles didn’t reply to the most unfair answer which his supervisor said, but from that day he noticed that poverty isn’t because we can’t feed the poor people. In fact, poverty exists because we can’t fulfill the rich.

  3. Lovely twist on the solution. I vaguely remember a similar tale in the news where a brand name company did allow one person to take either the irregulars or the leftovers to a charity so that a few poor people could wear the brand. Wish I could remember more details, but I think the brand name company did get some good will, maybe because the poor people could wear these clothes to job interviews.
