295th story
One night, Mashhadi Rajab’s donkey was stolen!

In the morning, his cries filled the air, and the villagers gathered around.

One said: “It’s the mason’s fault, he built the wall too short so the thief could easily get in!”

Another said: “It’s the carpenter’s fault, he didn’t make the stable door strong enough!”
Someone else added: “It’s the locksmith’s fault for making such a weak lock!”

Another blamed the donkey itself: “It’s the donkey’s fault for not making noise so Mashhadi Rajab would wake up!”

Then one said, “Actually, it’s Rajab’s fault! He should have slept during the day and spent his nights guarding the donkey!”
In the end, everyone was blamed—except the thief himself!

How familiar this story feels to us… It has become our own story:
Whatever happens, it’s always the people who are blamed, never the real culprit!
