“89th story”

A lady worked at a meat distribution factory.
One day, at the finishing time, she went into the meat cold room to inspect something quickly, as it was part of her everyday job.
But in a moment of misfortune, the door closed and she was locked inside.
Although she screamed and knocked with her might, her cries went unheard. Most of the workers had already gone, and it was impossible to be heard.
Five hours passed and any method she tried to keep her body warm wasn’t enough.
She knew she couldn’t survive until morning when workers came to work and opened the cold room.
She was on the verge of death, and the security guard of the factory opened the door.
She was miraculously saved from dying that day.
She later asked the security guard how he had come to open the cold room’s door, which wasn’t his usual work routine.
He explained: “I’ve been working in this factory for thirty years, hundreds of workers come in and out every day, but you are one of the few who greet me in the morning
and say goodbye to me every night when leaving after work. Many treat me as if I’m invisible. That day as you reported for work like all other days, you greeted me but that evening after working hours, I realized that I had not heard your ‘Bye, see you tomorrow.’
That’s why I decided to check and make sure you are alright.
I am glad you are safe and look forward to your ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ every day because it reminds me that I am somebody.
Not hearing your farewell that day… I knew something had happened. That’s why I was searching for you in every possible place.”
-Be humble, love and respect those around you. Try to have an impact on people who cross your path every day, you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Wow! Is that ever a great story! I can only imagine how it must have felt in that cold room and thinking….this is it for me! I know what that kind of room feels like because I used to work in a restaurant and it was kitchen help and I had to go into that freezer many times for food….buurrrr!
It’s a good reminder of doing those little things that can make someone else’s day!
