“48th story”
First published: July 19.2018
A story by Laleh Chini:
Bushehr is an important part of the Persian Gulf. It has beautiful sandy beaches. It was the great attraction for tourists before the revolution. People loved to visit beautiful views of the Persian Gulf.

Fridays are the “weekend” in Iran. We had family gatherings and picnics every single Friday.
On a Friday we went to the beach. As we spread the picnic set, a family came near us and settled there.

They had three sons close to our age so all the adults and kids quickly became friends.
They were from the capital of Iran and had recently moved to Bushehr because of their second son’s health condition. The mother said that their second son had severe Asthma, and doctors had suggested that living near the sea would help to calm his lungs and get easy on the Asthma. Both parents were teachers, they had started teaching in Bushehr and everything was going very well for them. Their son hadn’t had any asthma attacks since their move.

Us kids went closer to the water to dig some holes and build a castle. We watched the holes get filled with water as each wave came in and that was very enjoyable. Then we all went for a swim. We stayed very close to the shore and our parents watched us every second.

The weather was good and the beach was very crowded. We were starving after swimming, we came out of the water to eat. After a few seconds, we heard a very loud scream from the mother of the three boys.

The second son with asthma wasn’t back with us. We really didn’t notice. Our parents rushed to the water to find him. The crowded beach got very quiet and every other parent came to help to find the boy.

All the men walked straight to the water with clothes on to see if they can find the boy, and all the women were praying and biting their fingers looking into the sea.
Unfortunately, they found the boy’s body. They laid him on the sand and tried so hard to bring him back but it was the end of his journey.

That was the first dead body I saw in my life. Sadly, it was that of a preschool boy. A new-made friend, the same age as me.

Truly melting
My condolences
Let the boy s sole rest in peace
Anyhow it’s very difficult for his parents to come out of their loss.
None can fill his space.
So true and so sad. No parents should ever see that. Thanks dear for reading and commenting ❤️
How awful
It was. Thanks dear Derrick ❤️
So sad!
It really was. Thanks dear for commenting ❤️
I am so sorry you had to experience such a tragedy as a child, and I am also so sorry for the child who was lost and for his family. I have seen the waters of the Persian Gulf, and they are absolutely beautiful. Perhaps that young boy’s life ended with the knowledge that he was surrounded by such beauty, and that gave him a sense of peace. Thank you for your post – my heart goes out to you. ❤️
Thanks dearest Anita for sharing such beautiful thoughts of yours❤️
Oh what a sad story I can’t imagine how hard it was for his parents. Truly a bitter memory.
Love you ❤️
Terribly sad.
Thanks dear ❤️
What a terrible tragedy. Did this make you feel frightened of the sea?
That was my second worst experience of water, first saved by a frog and then this. Maybe it did.❤️
Both very difficult experiences.
Yes dear❤️
this is so sad. ): thank you for sharing and giving us the opportunity to send our prayers out for him.
Thanks sweetheart for always supporting and reading my posts.❤️
A heartfelt share, thank you. May the Boy Rest in Peace.
Thanks darling ❤️
Danger lurks at the beach when we are not watchful…
Sadly it is. Thanks Sunith dear ❤️
Tragic and heartfelt, Laleh. Their move to improve his health led to his death. No parent should lose a child so young.
That was the saddest part which they moved to the other side of the country just for his sake.😔thanks Rosaliene dear ❤️
How terrible for you, the other children and most for the parents. I think that there is nothing as terrible on this earth than losing a child… <3
Nothing can replace losing a child. It’s a forever shattered glass.😔thanks darling ❤️
How tragic for the family! Was your family able to remain close to them? I hope your family, and theirs, were offered loving support in that time of need.
They moved back to their city even for the funeral. We never heard from them ever. Thanks dearest Candice ❤️
That’s too bad that the friendship ended as a result of that sad accident.
I know, thanks dearest Candice ❤️
The loss of a child is a grief that never goes away. A hole in your heart that carries their name will always remain. In time, you will learn to live with that loss, but you will never be the same. “Acceptance is not about liking a situation. It is about acknowledging all that has been lost and learning to live with that loss.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. This experience must have been extremely traumatic for you as a child. Thank-you for sharing this sad memory.
Some memories would never vanish even if you want it to. I have too many images in my mind from that day, unbelievably sad. Thanks Ellen darling ❤️
Hard to read the conclusion !! Condolence to the family and wish no one sees and faces such circumstances
I wish that too my dear friend. Thanks so much for commenting ❤️
Hmm truly heart-wretching! And to experience such…. May he rest in heavenly peace. Thank you for sharing these impacting & life changing stories, that all teach us on how to be more grateful and thankful to God for life.
Thanks darling for reading and commenting ❤️
that’s very sad! 🙁 Did that give you a fear of the water?
I believe so, I always walk on beach and never swim in the sea.😔 thanks Alexis dear.❤️
Too sad but he has long since moved on, shocking for his family and all those on the beach that day! And more so for you as a pre-schooler to witness such a tragic event. It sounds like you still relive it but his grief is gone, time for you to move on …
Thanks dear for your calming comment❤️
May you be at peace 🙂
Appreciate it, same to you ❤️
Very sad and moving story… Feel for you & the child’s parents
You are so kind my friend ❤️
What a tragedy, the poor mother; she must be heartbroken!
Father, a prayer for Your peace and comfort for the parents of the little boy. It doesn’t make it any easier for them, but this little boy is safe; within Your loving embrace! Amen!
You’re a sweetheart Warren ❤️
A messenger, His love is the message! Be blessed!

Laleh Khanum, literally my heart sank, reading the end of the story. I believe it is the most horrible experience to loose a child an I hope the family has found peace with it’s loss.

Sorry you lost a friend at such a tender age
Thanks a million dear ❤️
Sorry you lost a friend at such an age. Was it an accident or carelessness on the part of parents?
Poor parents moved to port for his health, they cared a lot. I think his lungs weren’t strong enough to hold onto a simple wave. When it’s our time to go nothing would stop the trip. Thanks so much for your sympathy ❤️
what a bad story and i think cchildren to never forgot it
Thanks dear for reading my posts❤️
“But it was the end of his journey.” That’s a good way to accept death for what it is. I hope he & his family found peace. I imagine that was very traumatic for you, and I hope you (and your family) found peace with that memory too.
Thanks so much for your sympathy dear ❤️
How very tragic!

It’s so tragic ! It’s terrible to see death so young … I can’t imagine your fear, your pain and I pray for the poor parents. It was something that no one should have to live… thank you for your whole narrative that I read with attention.
Have a good monday
(Sorry for my english …french aren’t good in the over language 😁)
Thanks a million dear friend for such kind comment, means a lot. Have a nice weekend. I went to French school for six months, back in 1988 was able to talk, read and watch French movies.
Now I have forgotten and I regret it every second. I want to learn it back, don’t know where to start.😂
That’s terrible..
Thanks so much dear for your comment.💗
A tragic tale.
Thanks for reading dear.
What a tragic story about the little boy.
It sure was, and that’s why it never washed off my memory. Thanks for reading dear.
Yes, I would imagine that it’s an ordeal you would never forget. My heart went out to his family. You’re welcome. It’s always a pleasure to read your stories/posts.
That’s very kind of you, means a lot.
You’re welcome, Laleh 🙂
We used to have a summer place on a lake and I know how quickly a child can disappear in the water. We knew a family who lost a 3 year old little girl. it was a rainy day and no one noticed she had gone outside. She fell off the dock and could not swim. Just seconds and she was gone. Forever. A sad story about the little boy Laleh but so well told.
Thanks so much Anne for sharing your memory, yes it’s very sad and heartbreaking. ❤️
Those are experiences that definitely leave a mark in the soul. I remember very vividly a drowned tourist man in the beach in San Jose del Cabo (Mèxico). I`ll never forget his face.
Awww that’s very sad dear. Thanks for reading and sharing your memory.🌺
That’s the worst that can happen to parents, a child is not supposed to die before it’s parents pass. At least the boy has enjoyed a time of being free of his asthma.
No one should see child’s death, it’s so heartbreaking. Thanks dear for reading and commenting.❤️
No parent ever have to see such a thing , really a sad story .may the boy rest in peace.
It’s not fair to any parents, so heartbreaking. Thanks dear.🌺
So tragic. As a child living in Spain I saw a man drown. Will never forget the moment and the man’s purple face,
😢
Awww, that’s a horrific memory. Thanks for sharing Crissy.❤️🌺🥺
😳💖
🌸🤗
awesome!
Thank you, dear.
Heartbreaking, Laleh.
Thanks for reading Amy, yes it sure was.
Oh that is so sad and as a child to witness that out of the blue must have been heartbreaking. And the child’s family, oh what must have they went through, an excruciating pain,a void never to be filled again.
Yes, it was, no parents should go through this. Thanks Samreen.
Yes, never ever😔
<3
🤗❤️
So very sad, but it is also heartwarming in the way to tell the story. How to cherish youth, cherish loved ones, and while there will always be a longing for what could have been there is never any doubt in what was and still is in memory.
Thanks so much dear for your kind comment and friendship.🌺

LIFE ISN’T ALWAYS PLEASANT OR FAIR, IS IT? BUT WE REMEMBER…AND SADLY MOVE ON!
Thanks dear Jonathan.
DEAR LALEH—-sorry it’s only one—I’ve suddenly gotten very busy with visitors! 😀
Busy is good, be safe and happy.
TRYING ON ALL ACCOUNTS! <3
👏
😀
Very sad story indeed. Too bad the boy’s parents weren’t keeping a better watch of the child.
I almost drowned when I was two. My Mom told the story of a man coming up to my Mom and Dad and asking if they were the parents of the child who had just gone under for the 2nd time. The story never made sense to me as I always wondered why the man hadn’t jumped in and saved me himself?!
Oh my god, that’s so scary. Thank God you’re safe. Thanks for sharing dear.🌺❤️
What a tragic thing to happen!
It sure was. Thank you dear Clare, appreciate your sympathy.
There are few moments as sad as witnessing the loss of a small child. Such events will never be forgotten.
Yes, never. It is a bad memory. Thank you dear.
