In a shopping centre, Hilda pointed to two purses and asked Tom: “Which one should I choose?”

Tom: “I like them both.”

Tom was sitting in a chair, and had no knowledge about lady’s purses; to him, they were all the same. Hilda and Tom were in that shop for an hour, the sales-person kindly recommended the blue purse for the 10th time. Tom was really tired, and just wanted to leave.

Hilda compared the white purse with the blue one again, their prices were the same but the white purse was bigger. Hilda finally bought the blue purse and they walked out of the store towards the train station.

On the way, Hilda said: “I should have bought the white purse. It goes with more clothes. I can’t wear a blue purse with a red or green dress, can I?”

Tom said: “If you didn’t like it, why did you buy it? Give it to me, I will run to the store and exchange it for you.”

Hilda: “But our train will leave within 18 minutes.”

Tom: “Give me my ticket. If I don’t make it, you go and I will catch the next one.”

Tom ran towards the shopping centre but in the main intersection, instead of turning right, he ran to the left by mistake.

He noticed that everyone was staring at him and that was very strange. A policewoman stopped Tom and said: “Why are you running with a lady’s purse?”

Tom: “I am going to the shopping centre to exchange it for my wife.”

Policewoman: “The shopping centre is on the right. Show me your receipt.”

Tom looked everywhere, but he couldn’t find the receipt.”I swear I had a receipt.”

Policewoman continued: “I will follow you to the store to see if you are telling the truth.”

Tom walked with the policewoman, towards the shopping centre. They got to the store, and the policewoman asked the salesperson if Tom bought this purse?

The kind salesperson said: “Absolutely.”

Tom said: “I would like to exchange it to the white purse please, while the policewoman left.”

There was a woman buying a black purse and the salesperson had to take her first.

Tom said: “Please I will lose my train.”

The customer said: “I am late too; I have to go home to make dinner.”

The salesperson said: “I have 8 white purses at this price. Do you remember which one your wife liked?”

To Tom, they all looked alike. He tried so hard to remember which one it was, and finally picked the right one and asked for a shopping bag so that the police wouldn’t mistake him for a thief again.

Tom still had 6 minutes left and ran to the train station, but he got on the opposite side by mistake. He had to run across a stair-bridge to get to the correct side and he only had 2 minutes left. He ran so fast up the stairs and finally jumped into the train and the train left the station a second after that.

Tom sighed and said: “Thank goodness I got here on time.”

Hilda opened the bag and screamed: “This isn’t my white purse!!!”

  1. Hahaha, this one is really interesting.

  2. Hilarious. No good deed goes unpunished. Poor husband.

  3. I agree with your daughter.

  4. After all bad things Tom went through, he didn’t deserve to purchase the wrong 👜. But frankly Hilda was an annoying wife, LOL.

  5. Liked the story, made me laugh, about bringing it back for you, if you don’t like, but the train coming😁running with purse, happens thought😁

  6. Always up for a great story❤️

  7. Perhaps she should just use the shopping bag.

  8. Some ladies are difficult, aren’t they?!! 😜

  9. Haha!!! That poor man! He probably should’ve stayed home that day! Lol. Loved this story, Laleh! Absolutely a pleasure to read. 😄❤️

  10. At least he made his train!

  11. the lesson here is to insist on buying her both. that way she has more than one option and you don’t miss the train nor get into a situation where you look like a purse snatcher.

  12. Oh these ladies 🙄 and poor husband ☺️ Loved it 💕

  13. Haha, lovely story Laley!

  14. Oh no 🤦🏽‍♂️

  15. thank you for the laugh, it is so good for the soul. 🙂

  16. Poor distressed man, he did try; many husbands would not.

  17. How frivolous we women can be!

  18. Very well-written! I felt Tom’s boredom, then ran with him, felt relieved to finally get the purse and train, and felt soooo irritated at Hilda!

  19. You at it again Laleh Chini….beautiful narration.

  20. Poor Tom…hahaha….I enjoyed the story!

  21. It’s good how a man knows what he wants. Even buying a purse will cause trouble as it is uncertain.

  22. Brilliant!👏👏

  23. I like the story, really.

  24. Haha.. She is really so annoying. Poor husband!!

  25. I can think of someone I know that could very well be the woman in your story.😉.
    Loved the story.

  26. السلام و علیکم
Ma’am your writings are great. May I have the honour to translate two of your writings in Urdu for my blog. 😻

  27. Thank you very much for another very interesting and so “teaching” story, Laleh! Excuse the very late revisit. Sometimes i think i should hire a secretary, but then there would be no work to do for me. Lol Have a beautiful weekend. Michael

  28. Oh, no! What an ungrateful person!

  29. Great story Laleh. Any husband should be able to identify with it because I’m certain we have all been in the same spot, just with the wrong color and the right style of purse. Thanks following my writing. I am looking forward to reading more of yours.

  30. Hahah, oh dear. Tom sounds like quite a trooper going through all of that for the sake of a purse though! x

  31. Reblogged this on By the Mighty Mumford and commented:
    OH DEAR…WHOSE PURSE IS IT?

  32. This seems to me such an expression of our culture. We are all too often self-centered and materialistic, wholly unaware and unappreciative of the efforts of others on our behalf.

  33. Looks like he has not been married for long. He thought he could get the right one…

  34. Poor Tom. Sometimes it’s better just to keep quiet lol

  35. Some people can never be pleased so in such cases you might as well try to concentrate on pleasing yourself.

  36. Αhhh my poor Tom !!! Women lol!!!! A nice week ahead my Laleh!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. OMG! Imagine the look on poor Tom’s face!

  38. Hilda jest osobą niezdecydowaną, sama nie wie, co jej się podoba. Dlaczego nie pomyślała wcześniej, że niebieska jej nie pasuje. Facet też mylił kierunki i drogę. Śmieszne.
    Pozdrawiam

  39. Oh, no. He is in trouble! 😊

  40. Oh no!!! What a great story!!! I was so hoping that through all of his trouble he had chosen the correct one; alas!!!

  41. Poor Tom, his wife sure had him… “trained!” 😊😉 A lovely story!

  42. Love your stories! I’ve come to depend on them as always being good. No pressure!
You created a great sense of urgency in this one – I was on edge reading it!

  56. Entertaining story Laleh. So annoying for poor Tom though. He might just throw the white bag out the train window!!
