Once upon a time,

There was a king who appreciated art a lot.

He asked all the artists of his kingdom to participate in a competition and create a painting with the subject of “peaceful view.”

He announced that there would be a prize for the winner.

and the painting would be hung in his palace, which was a huge honour and fame for artists.

Every artist started to paint their version of the most peaceful view.

On the day of the competition, hundreds of beautiful paintings gathered in the big hall of the palace for the king to judge.

The king looked at each beautiful painting. There were many paintings with blue sky and great sea, quiet and peaceful.

Between all the peaceful paintings, the king announced the winner.

The winner was a painting with a dark cloudy sky, sea waves madly stroking the cliffs and a waterfall deviated to the side because of the angry wind.

All the artists were shocked, how could the king choose such a madness painting as a peaceful subject?

The king said: “Behind all this madness of this painting, near the waterfall, I saw a crack with a green bush and a bird nest. The Birds were sitting in their nest in peace. Peace doesn’t certainly mean that there shouldn’t be any noise, toughness, or craziness, being in peace means that you could live peacefully among all the madness around you.”

    I think I paused for too long on the white sandy spit next to the azure blue sea and never quite made it to the end of the story 😉

    A wise King indeed to look beyond the immediate to see the vista far beyond. It offers a meta-narrative to all people to reach far further than they are immediately able to grasp in both vision and thought. All that we see is spun in the mind on a silver screen called perception. Changing one’s perception – being at once mindful and discerning – is the fundamental key to self-liberation and self-sovereignty.

    I wondered which image I may have chosen. Perhaps that is a relevant question for all readers to ask of themselves? 🙂

    I visit for the magic of your stories and parables – it’s what you always have us imagine in-between words that I enjoy – and stay for the magical emoji’s cast from your keyboard 😀

    If most of us are those birds, then why doesn’t the collective flock beat it’s one wing and dispel the dark clouds from slate skies hanging over this mad, mad world?

    I am at Peace within me…it is the world that is chaotic, convoluted, inequitable, fractured, stratified, and centred on greed, wealth, money, power: a world spinning on an axis of fool’s gold. Indeed it is hard accepting that the majority of people on Earth are subject to the dictates of the few.

    The World waits for a King or Queen like figure similar to the one in your story to rise on behalf of all Humankind and with 360 degree vision lead Civilization as a collective towards the Dawn of a New Age here on Earth. Currently there is no coherent Global agenda for humankind: there is just emphasis placed on division, differentiation, and separation from one whole. The World waits with breath held in anticipation of Love setting the new agenda on Earth.

        Namaste Laleh :),

        I believe people are full of Love, Kindness and Compassion – there is no pretence in that – but are bound by fear or have no knowledge of how to express those virtues to one another let alone stand-up and be heard by world governments who debase Love in favour of Capitalist greed. Perhaps when people wake up to the idea that they are not just ‘resource’ for another to exploit and profit from then that will be a first step towards independence?

        The majority shouldn’t be hiding in a small crack behind a wayward waterfall crashing down on a dark world beneath a darker sky. Earth is paradise for everyone to enjoy and thrive upon. Sooner or later one gets the feeling the crack will widen and the flock will emerge: governance of the World by the elite is not acceptable and does not support an agenda for change, transformation and metamorphosis of civilisation. Elitism does not look to the future: it sees only the material rewards to be made in the immediate. It cares not for the masses, only for itself and its kin. Tis time the World’s people ended this self-centred, self-fulfilling trend: a means to break the cycle is required.

        I’m still paused on that white sandy spit yet now drifting in sapphire blue waters watching flocks of Eagles and Kingfishers descend en mass upon Earth to lift hearts and minds and to fish for Kings and Queens. It is a magnificent site! 🙂
