Soroosh was interesting from the first paragraph. A hauntingly emotional tug at the soul. Laleh Chini is a wonderful writer, and she deserves the Canada Book Award. Soroosh drives his broken family to succeed. A ten-year-old boy lifts the family up and pushes hard to climb the hardest mountains of life. He never gives up. The characters in this novel are richly developed, and layered. I dare any reader not to cry through this book. This novel will cling to me for a long time, and I highly recommend it as a must-read.
