The Donkey And The Donkey Owner/الاغ و صاحب الاغ

244th story

Long ago a man named Abbas lived in a village. Abbas was very friendly and owned many donkeys.

The people of the village talked a lot behind his back. He wasn’t religious like them. He didn’t believe in God.

Abbas took his donkeys to the meadow every day and sang with a delightful voice.

The world’s wheel didn’t spin kindly for Abbas. He had to sell his donkeys one by one to survive financially.

But still, he lost all his donkeys and house. He became homeless and left the village walking. He had no clue where to go.

After days of walking, he got to a town, thirsty and hungry. He saw a worship place walked in and asked for food and shelter.

The prayer was a kind person and allowed Abbas to stay there. The prayer educated Abbas about existence of the God, and little by little Abbas loved believing in God. People of the little town started to get to know Abbas and loved him.

After years the prayer died and people chose Abbas to be the prayer of the town’s worship place.

One time a person from Abbas’s village was passing by. They were on their way to the big city. They came to the worship place to pray and relax.

He noticed the prayer looked like Abbas. He went close and said: ” Sorry I used to know a person named Abbas who looked just like you.”

Abbas said: ” It’s me, Abbas.”

The traveler said: “How that be possible? You didn’t believe in religion when you lived in the village. Now you are the head prayer?!”

Abbas: ” Back then I was born and forced to believe an angry God my village worshiped. The God my villagers believed didn’t like me singing. People talked behind my back as a stupid man leading the dumbest animals by singing. But people in this town love happiness, kindness and friendship. They gather here and sing together and talk about a kind God. Here I understood God and chose to believe him.”
