The Rainbow Colour Umbrella/چتر رنگین کمانی

251st story

Sherry was in the second year of the elementary school.

One rainy day she carried her rainbow-colored umbrella, which had a blue handle and a hanging whistle.

She wanted to play in the schoolyard under the rain with her colorful umbrella. But, the bell rang. She had to run to her class.

She knew the class was more important. The interesting part is that even today, she doesn’t remember what they learned that day. She is now a grown woman. Still, she remembers how she wanted to play under the rain with her beautiful umbrella. Unfortunately, she couldn’t.

After that day she had probably seen thousands of rainy days. She had bought many new umbrellas. Still, none ever gave her that feeling she had when she was eight years old.

It was her first debt to her heart, and so it stayed with her.

After that day she owed her heart so many wonderful moments. Sometimes just to look smart or stay focused, she missed thousands of silly but important enjoyments in her life.

Sometimes, to feel great, we need to do foolish little things. This is especially true at a certain age. Of course, these things should be neither stupid nor regrettable.

Life is very hard and these moments give us positive energy to stay strong and push ahead.

  1. Very true Laleh. Doing things that heart wants are not silly or frivolous.

  2. Lelah, thank you for posting this story. The nurturing spirit of a past memory sometimes waits for an opportune time to stop by . . . again.
