The Hoaxer/حقه باز

266th story

Nader was a married man, and he wasn’t doing very well in life. He always had a money problem.

Nader’s brother Mosem was an important person in the city hall and had a great life.

Nader’s wife asked him to go to his brother Mosem and ask for some money.

As much as Nader didn’t want to ask his brother for any favour, he had no other choice as he was deeply in debt.

Nader called Mosem and asked for help.

Mosem said, ” Come to my office tomorrow morning.”

The next day, Nader went to the City Hall to his brother’s office.

While Nader was there, Mosem called someone and said, ” Sorry, Mr. Rozbeh, I gave the region one’s paving to another contractor.”

The contractor was begging on the phone, and Mosem said, ” The new contractor is a relative to the mayor and is in my office right now; come and talk to him.”

The contractor came to Mosem’s office, begging that this is a five million dollar project and I planned everything, the labourers are ready and happy to have jobs.

Mosem said, ” Give something to this contractor to walk out and you keep the job.”

Nader’s mouth was open, wondering about the scam his brother was playing, and he probably played it his whole career.

The contractor looked at Nader and said, ” Please, many families’ jobs depend on this project. How much do you want to walk away? “

Mosem said, ” Just give him three hundred thousand, I will send him away.”

The contractor begged, bargained and paid two hundred thousand, and left Mosem’s office very happy.

Mosem wrote a cheque for one hundred thousand to his brother and deposited the two hundred thousand in his wife’s account so his name would stay clean.

  1. Such a scam reminds me of what might happen when I dispense my mother’s assets to family and friends when she dies. maybe I am just too naive to buy into such a scam possibility.
