Edgar’s Gathering/گردهمایی ادگار

308th story

Let’s smile a bit today.

Edgar, a 96-year-old man, says to his 62-year-old son:

“I want to have a small gathering with my friends, and I’d like your help organizing it.”

“Of course, Father, don’t worry. I’ll help you.”

“Help me with what?” “With the gathering, Father!!!” “Ah, right! I just forgot for a moment!”

Edgar’s son invited Edgar’s friends, and on the party date, he showed Edgar a note he had stuck on the refrigerator. On it was written:

Serve the coffee. Serve the sandwiches. Serve the soda and drinks. Serve the cake.

Edgar said:

“Perfect! Now I won’t have any problems.” “Thank you, my son!”

That afternoon, his friends arrived. None of them was younger than 90.

Edgar, being a kind host, welcomed them into the dining room and went to the kitchen.

He read:

Serve the coffee. And he brought coffee for his friends.

After some chatting, Edgar, feeling a bit anxious, went back to the kitchen and read again:

Serve the coffee. And once again, he poured them coffee…He repeated this four times.

At the end of the gathering, his friends said goodbye and left.

On the way home, one of them said to another:

“Tito, did you notice? Edgar was such a bad host… he didn’t even serve us a single cup of coffee!”

Tito replied:

“Edgar? Who are you talking about?”

That night, Edgar’s son returned to his father’s house and was surprised to see that the sandwiches, drinks, and cake were all untouched. He asked:

“Father, what happened?”

Edgar replied:

“Son, you won’t believe it! None of them came…”

Moral of the story:

Let’s gather and spend time together now — while we still remember and recognize one another.
