“206th” story

Two friends were walking in the woods beside a very deep, and angry river.
All of a sudden, they saw someone screaming for help, and struggling in the river.
One of the friends jumped into the water and saved the drowning person.
They wanted to continue their walk but saw another person screaming for help as he was drowning.
The same friend jumped back into the water and saved this guy too. As soon as he came out of the water he saw strangely another person was calling for help.
The other friend thought this was an unusual situation. Something is not normal and decided to run forward to see what could be happening up in the river, while his friend was constantly saving people’s lives.
After a little while he saw a bridge, and someone was standing on it, and whoever wanted to pass the bridge, he pushed into the river.
The friend tightened up the crazy guy and called the police, then came back to find his friend.
His friend was wet and exhausted.
The tired and wet friend said: “After a little while the river stopped bringing drowning people.”
“Yes. Someone had to fix the main problem.” The other friend replied.
This story reminded me of the problems in our society, life, country, and world. Many great people are trying to save others from poverty, drugs, and millions of problems in the world, while there are always crazy ones standing on the bridge and no one tries to stop them.

Good point. The rich and powerful are throwing people in the river and we’re mostly just dealing with the consequences. Very few even see the cause of our problems. Many don’t even notice the man on the bridge, and even if they see him, they think he’s doing good. We have a situation in Gaza strip for example, many are providing humanitarian aid, but it would be far more efficient to stop Israel from its genocidal actions. But still, saving drowning people is also important, as humanitarian aid in Gaza, but as you said, it doesn’t solve the problem.
Unfortunately these short sounds silly stories represent the situations of the world and not many notice.

Very timely post in light of last week’s election in the US. I fear we have four years ahead of us with a President trying to push half of us off the bridge. I must learn how to swim.
