“142nd story”
Sally was cooking, and the doorbell rang. Sally opened the door, and there was her father. He brought some fresh bread for Sally.

When Sally’s father bought fresh bread for themselves, he always dropped some off for her daughter’s house, too.
Her father believed that fresh bread had better taste. Usually, her father just handed Sally the bread and left. He never came inside, never.
But on that day, Sally’s mother was with him, too.

When Sally’s husband heard his in-laws’ voices, he ran towards the door to say hi, he truly loved Sally’s parents.
That day Sally’s husband insisted her parents come inside and have dinner with them. Sally didn’t like her husband’s idea. She was tired, the house was a mess, and she just came from work, and wanted to relax.

Sally’s parents came inside, and Sally’s husband ran to the kitchen to make coffee. Sally went to the kitchen and whispered to her husband that she was tired, why did he invite them?
Her husband said: “Your food smelled delicious. It would be great to share.”
Sally said: “But I made more food to have leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. We have to take food to work.”
Sally’s father came to the kitchen and said: “What a great smell, my daughter is a great cook.” Then he cracked a very kind smile.

When Sally set the dinner table, and everyone started eating, her father ate a few spoons, and her mother had a little salad.

They played with the food and mostly talked and complimented Sally’s cooking. Sally had enough leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch after the cleanup. Her parents didn’t stay long after dinner and said you guys are tired and need to relax.
Years flew, and Sally’s parents passed away.
Every time Sally made the food she cooked that night, she thought what if her father overheard her?! Maybe that was why her parents didn’t eat and left very early.

How could she ever be so heartless? Was a little leftover that essential to break her parent’s hearts? This deep pain has bothered Sally all these years. She didn’t care about the most critical part of life. She wasn’t thinking deeply. She missed them so much. She never appreciated the fresh bread her father brought her just to hand in his love.

It wasn’t about the bread. It was an alibi to pass the message of love, and Sally was too busy and tired to feel it. Sally was blind.

That’s a beautiful share. And I’m sure your caring parents were well aware that you were tired, and that you hadn’t had time to cook up some more, and therefore this was your own meal you were sharing. And in picking and toying, they left you enough to eat after they’d gone.
Thanks so much dear, it wasn’t me and my parents. It was just a passing story, appreciate your kindness.❤️
Ah! My mistake.
Lol, no problem.🌹
In many ways, I’m glad about that. But my comment still stands
Yes true. Appreciate it dear.🌺🌹
🙂
A very simple and powerful message in that story. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much dear, appreciate your friendship.❤️
Although your feeling is entirely understandable, I think you should stop beating yourself up over it. Your parents clearly loved you very much and, I feel sure, wouldn’t want you to feel this way.
Just my tuppence.
Thanks so much dear, it wasn’t my story. Sally was telling a friend about her story. Appreciate your kindness.❤️
I don’t think her parents overheard her, they knew the dinner was already cooked for just two people, that’s why they were playing with the food. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story.
Love you.❤️
Beautiful story with bitter reality. We children remain blind to see the love of our parents unless we become parents…
May Allah shower His countless blessings upon our parents, Ameen 💖
Thanks Saba, it was a beautiful sharing. God bless you in this beautiful month of Ramadan.❤️
Ameen 💕

Bread is life. Memories of parents are usually associated with bread, food and smell.
greetings
Lol, somehow it’s true. They always feed us with love.❤️
A bittersweet tale . . . how often we “realize” later . . . thank you for sharing and providing “food for thought”.
Thanks so much dear for reading, appreciate your kindness.🌺
Very powerful message.
Thanks lovely so much.❤️
You’re welcome Laleh 🙏😇❤️
❤️
Such an emotional story. My eyes almost welled up with tears🥺. We must always appreciate every little bit that our parents do for us. We never know how long we have them with us.
True, and you have a kind heart dear. Thanks for sharing your comment.❤️
You’re always welcome.
🌸🌺🙏
A sad story about a situation that’s all too real for many of us who are adult children or have adult children.
Yes Rosaliene, we’re often so busy to realize we’re missing the point of life. Thanks so much.❤️
Ah, what a lovely tale! Regardless of all the differences in the world, there is one thing common in every parent in the world- Selfless love for their children. Isn’t it pure heartwarming love that never asks for anything return, no expectations and no demands? A love which continues to warm us even if we get separated from them by distance and time?
Loved the story, Laleh!❤
That’s so true, parent’s love is truly unconditional. But unfortunately not all the parents are the same. Appreciate your beautiful comment dear.❤️
Sad but true!!🙁
Thanks dear for reading. Appreciate your comment.
The pleasure is all mine!!😊❤
🌺❤️🌸
How agonizing, wondering if the words were overheard. I’ve been there, learning the hard way that some things are better left unsaid.
I understand, it could be a serious heart breaking. Thanks so much for your kind words.❤️

Bread over my head indeed. Lol appreciate it. To us bread is a blessing.🌺
That was a beautiful share Sherazade dear. Thanks so much sweetheart.🌹🌺
You too have a nice day… if possibile 🌹❤
Much love.

Thanks so much Anne sweetheart. You always support me with your kind words. Much love.❤️

Sometimes it’s not about what you have, but what you’re willing to give? Sometimes it’s about what you have, but how much of yourself, you’re truly willing to give. It’s about the moments you have, and the moments you get to have! Happy Mother’s Day, Blessings!
Thank you Warren for the wise thoughts to share. Appreciate it.
You’re welcome!
🌸🌺
This is heartbreaking but very real. It happens more times than we care to acknowledge. Once death comes it’s too late. Living with regrets it’s nothing short of self torture.
Keep safe Laleh♥️
So true Crissy. Thanks for sharing your beautiful words. Have a nice weekend.❤️
You too Laleh 💜
🙏🌹
Beautifully expressed, Laleh. I didn’t appreciate my parents as much as I should have and then they were gone. There are things I wish I had said and things I wish I hadn’t said to them. These things will haunt me the rest of my life.
No matter how hard we think we try, still there’s many mistakes. Don’t bother yourself much we’re only humans.🌺🌹❤️
You’re right, Laleh.
❤️🌺❤️
A volte siamo troppo presi da noi stessi, dalla vita frenetica, per assaporare il vero amore che abbiamo.
Dovremmo sempre guardare oltre il nostro egoismo.
Sempre intense le tue storie. Grazie.
Thank you dear it’s very kind of you. Yes we forget about the most important tasks and duties we have which is sharing love and respect to each other.
This story is so beautiful… I can imagine how she feels about her parents
Thank you so much for reading. Did you find your orange shoes yet? LOL
You’re most welcome. Yes, I’ve found some. But I guess the number is infinite so I can find another and another. 🙂
😂😂😂
😍
Lovely! Our parents love us so much but in their lifetime we fail to appreciate their love! Only when they’re gone we realise what they meant to us! Then such instances as you mentioned keep on flashing in our minds. I just hope that I won’t be one of those… and try to be as kind to them as they’re to me!
Thanks dear, it’s really inspiring!
Sorry for the late response, your comment was in the spam. I just saw it.
It’s okay. 🙂

Parents show their love on us irrespective of the age. In turn they don’t expect anything. When they are with us, we can’t understand their love.
True, I believe most of parents. God bless good souls. Thanks dear friend.🌺
